🔧Step 6: Setting Up Cursor for Success

Let’s make sure Cursor has everything it needs to do the heavy lifting.

Now that we’ve seen how Cursor can generate a full strategy in a single prompt (thanks, Step 5), let’s talk about how to consistently get those results.

For Cursor to effectively use the documentation we added back in Step 3, follow these quick setup tips:

  1. Switch to Agent mode – that’s the mode that does all the smart stuff.

  2. Type @ in the chat box – a drop-down will appear.

  3. Under "Docs", choose FTO Strategy documentation – the one we added earlier (Picture #1).

  1. Add the file where you want to create the strategy:

  • You can drag and drop it from the Explorer (on the left) right into the chat window,

  • or use the @ menu again and find it under Files & folders (Picture #2).

  • In our case, we choose the file named index.ts, as it will contain the implementation of our strategy.

This tells Cursor: “Hey, here’s what you need to know, and here’s where you need to work.”

That’s it — now your AI assistant is fully briefed and ready to build smarter, faster, and with fewer headaches.

That’s a wrap!

You’ve just learned how to set up Cursor, feed it the right context, and get it to generate a full working strategy in a single prompt — pretty neat, right?

From getting familiar with the interface to injecting documentation and rules, you now have a solid workflow that turns AI into your coding sidekick. No more starting from scratch, no more digging through old snippets. Just smart prompting and a dash of magic.

Now go forth, build more, break less — and maybe say “thank you” to your AI once in a while. It’s listening.

And if one day your AI assistant shrugs and goes — don’t worry. The experts at 4xdev.comarrow-up-right have your back.
